Outside you can find Jess Meany riding endless climbs in the Los Angeles heat, or trail running across the Verdugo Mountains. But once she’s back home, Jess creates new stories out of old ones - unique clothing pieces using reclaimed and recycled textiles.
It began on wheels
Jess has a background in cycling, doing road races across the East Coast while living in New York. After moving to California she found a new take on the sport and has been enjoying setting her own challenges. She’s always finding the newness in her approach to the rides she does, in her community, and herself.
In 2019 Jess created her own brand, aptly named Jess Meany. She creates shirts, jackets, and a dress when the material calls for it. Her signature take on a modern casual silhouette while juxtaposing the use of dead-stock textiles, discarded family quilts or reclaimed 1960’s table cloths has defined a look that is undeniably Jess.
“ I have met so many incredible people all around the world that I never would otherwise had a chance to meet. The bike is something that never seems to run out of experiences for me.“
More steps
For Jess, cycling has been her common red thread, centering her around friends and familiar places. Yet, its only part of the big picture. Over the last few years, running has become another platform for exploration in her surroundings an in herself.
